The U.S. Senate passed a resolution to end U.S. President Donald Trump’s all-encompassing global tariff policy 51-47, according to PANews. A bipartisan resolution to end the national emergency the President had declared to impose international tariffs was approved by the Senate. The Senate passed two resolutions earlier this week that sought to lift tariffs on Brazil and Canada.
The House of Representatives now needs to approve these resolutions. It is unclear that these resolutions would go to a vote, though, as House Republicans have thwarted prior attempts to reverse tariff legislation. Congress would require a two-thirds majority to overcome a presidential veto, even if the House passes the resolution.
